Lake Minnewaska Walleye Tournament

Sunday, May 17  6:30am - 2:30pm

Information and Rules

  1. Off limits starts at 6:00pm the evening before the tournament, no anglers fishing the tournament may be on the lake in any form after that.

  2. Tournament headquarters – blast off and weigh in will be at the Water’s Edge, Starbuck MN.

  3. All teams must be registered and checked in ½ hour before the start of the tournament out in front of the Water’s Edge. Tournament boats may launch anywhere on the lake but they must start and finish at the location listed above. Please do not fill any parking lot over 50% capacity at a landing on the lake.

  4. All boats must be back and checked in by the appointed time (with clothes pin on the board). Penalty for late arrival to weigh-in is disqualification.

  5. Bring in your five largest walleyes to be measured and weighed. Prizes will be given for overall big fish as well as total weights. It is each teams job to pick their big fish to be weighed out of the five they bring in. (Only 5 fish permitted in your live well as this is 100% catch and release tournament)

  6. Weight will be measured in pounds and hundredths. (Ties will be broken by the largest fish in the bag first, and a coin toss second)

  7. This is a catch and release tournament, all fish brought to the scale alive will be released. Dead Fish penalty is four ounces per dead fish. The penalty for culling dead fish is disqualification. Dead fish is defined as a non-releasable fish.

  8. All fish will be measured by the Judge Ruler. By MN Law you are only allowed TWO Fish Over 20 inches. More than that will result in disqualification. There is also a 15-inch minimum, short fish penalty will result in the weight of that fish lost plus your biggest fish.

  9. Catch and Release tournament, all boats must have properly equipped operating live well. Before the tournament all boats and live wells will be checked.

  10. Life jackets with kill-switch attached must be worn while on plane.

  11. Leaving your boat during tournament hours is only permitted at tournament headquarters with the exception of severe weather.

  12. All Minnesota fishing and boating regulations apply.

  13. Contestants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult or have parents written permission to participate.

  14. Alcohol and/or non-prescription drugs are not permitted in the boat during tournament hours.

  15. The tournament director may prescribe additional rules, if necessary. All protests must be made by the close of weigh in. The tournament director will make the final decision in all matters.

  16. Blast off position will be determined by random draw live at our rules meeting at Blair’s Pub & Grub on Saturday night. The chips will be drawn in order that boaters have paid their entry fee.

  17. There shall be no personal contact between boats during tournament hours and you must maintain a respectable distance from other boats.

  18. Knowledge of these rules are your responsibility. Violations of these rules and/or MN Laws and regulations may result in disqualifications. Be sure toClean, Drain, Dry, No exceptions.
